There has been much going on lately, however, right now I want to draw attention to the "State Stimulus Plan".
I've been informed that it has been debated for two hours and that the Senate means to pick up discussion tomorrow, Thursday. This is a terrible bill that adds 1 billion federal tax dollars (that we haven't received yet) to our state's budget. It is irresponsible, and, just like the federal stimulus bill of 2009, it sends money to government projects.
Please contact your state legislators and Gov. Riley and ask them to vote against this bill! The name is SB121. Contact your legislators here. Contact Gov. Riley here. Please flood the phones. Thank you!!
Quick Wonderful Updates: The State Sovereignty Resolution passed the State House yesterday (it had already passed the Senate!) And Scott Brown won the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts last night! This is a great win. Scott Brown has pledged to vote against Obamacare, thus ending the Democrat Party's super majority in the Senate!
Folks, it is no question that we have momentum. Please bring that momentum to local Alabama politics. Please find good candidates to support and start helping them NOW, by donating/volunteering/spreading the word, etc. Also, don't forget that a Democrat has not stepped up to run for U.S. Congress in AL-District 5. This race will most likely be won in the primary (which will be June 1.) It's just the beginning of 2010, but we have a LOT of work to do! Thank you for all you do!! :)

I have received news that Congressman Parker Griffith will be attending a Madison County Republican Executive Committee meeting this coming Monday, Jan. 18th. The meetings are always open to the public; but you are not allowed to take the floor and speak unless you are called upon. Just wanted to pass this information along in case you want to attend. The meeting will be held at 7pm at the Heritage Bank on Balmoral Dr., in Huntsville.
UPDATE: The meeting will be held at 7pm at the RENASANT Bank (not Heritage) on Balmoral Dr., in Huntsville. (I'm told it used to be Heritage Bank.)

All, Today, I was contacted by the "Bulls and Bears" show on the Fox Business News Channel for a live interview today about the meeting Obama is holding with union members today - union members who are angry that the Senate Health Care Bill will tax their cadillac health care plans. Questions are basically, "What if another Nebraska deal happens?" and, "What would it cost the taxpayers?"
Vince Kreul will be representing the Huntsville Tea Party in this interview. It will air LIVE today at 3pm! And remember it is on the Fox Business Network (FBN), not the main Fox News Channel (FNC.) Tune in if you can! Also, if you can please record it so that we can put it up on our website - we are unable to go home to do that before the interview.
I am not sure what made them choose us for this interview, but we are happy to tell them what we think in any case! Our main message is that these back room deals are extremely corrupt and unfair! That they are lawlessness in its best form and the American people are paying for it! That the tea party movement is working to get the right people elected to stop all of this unconstitutional nonsense.

Yesterday, Alabama’s 5th Congressional District Representative, Parker Griffith, switched from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party. Huntsville Tea Party leaders agree that, “While unexpected, this does not come as a huge shock to us. We believe Griffith made this choice in an act of desperation because be is afraid of losing the 2010 election.“ “Unfortunately for Parker Griffith, we have high standards for our next congressman, and choice excerpts from his voting record do not satisfy us. If you look closely at his record you will see that his first vote was for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, who is leading the charge for seemingly endless federal control over our lives, and you will see that he has voted with her 84% of the time.” They added, “We do not consider him a constitutional conservative, which is one of our most significant criteria for candidates, or even a conservative at all. At the Huntsville Space & Rocket Center, when responding to a question about the constitutionality of the health care bill, he indicated that he is past that and that it would be like trying to put toothpaste back into the tube. He also did not deny, at a town hall over the summer, that he had voted with Pelosi about 75% of the time.” “Over the past year, we have watched him pander towards different audiences. At August town halls he came out strongly against a government-run health care option. Yet, we have heard numerous accounts from local progressives, on talk radio and at town halls themselves, that before he was elected, in 2008, he was for a ‘health care for all’ type of option.” They concluded, “We are thankful for Parker Griffith’s committed stance on health care, and that he has voted against major socialist bills this year. However, we do not trust him and we do not support him as our next congressman. There are two excellent candidates that are already running in this race: Les Phillip and Mo Brooks. It is our hope and goal that the strongest constitutional conservative will win, and we look forward to participating in this important race.”

I don't normally send out an article like this, but I am including here an article that I think answers this question excellently. I can imagine how frustrated you are right now (with the health care legislation passing the Senate cloture vote.) The following article outlines where and how to channel that frustration and energy. Do not be overcome by these events. Let's go get it in 2010! Of course, these are not the only things we can do, but it's a great start! Hope you enjoy..
All Politics is Local by Capitol Confidential at biggovernment.com
TEA Parties nation-wide have found that calling, writing, and showing up in person in D.C. has the same impact as a hiccup in a hurricane. After turning out thousands of citizens at rallies, overwhelming the Senate phone lines and crashing Congress’ e-mail system, our elected representatives are poised to enact the greatest expansion of government in history. The TEA Parties followed the direction of national organizations and associations. They answered the call, but were sent over the trench-line without an actual plan or support. (See, for example, Somme, Battle of) It is time for the TEA Party movement to turn inward. In the words of the age-old adage, “ All politics is local “.
Stories like the ACORN tapes have massive national legs, yet they do not destroy the local farm team of tax-and-spend big government. Fighting for Liberty and the ability to live the American dream requires getting your hands dirty far closer to home.
