I'm sure most of you have been following the story on the new push for a health care bill.  President Obama has called for an up-or-down vote on his new health care reform bill (that is approximately 2,700 pages and was just unveiled last week) within the NEXT FEW WEEKS!    Here is an article about it in the New York Times.

Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) is coming to Huntsville to fundraise for Parker Griffith on Monday, March 8.  The affair will be a $50-per-plate speaking engagement at a local hotel conference room.

You can see the invitation for the fundraiser through this link at the Attack Machine.

We sent out this press release yesterday, which was subsequently covered in an article at The Daily Caller and also linked to on the TCOT Report.

There is more to come on this story.

UPDATE: Thought you’d be interested that our Boehner Press Release made it to the Huntsville Times and some blogs.

Important Legislative Update PDF Print E-mail
Tea Party News

There has been much going on lately, however, right now I want to draw attention to the "State Stimulus Plan".

I've been informed that it has been debated for two hours and that the Senate means to pick up discussion tomorrow, Thursday.  This is a terrible bill that adds 1 billion federal tax dollars (that we haven't received yet) to our state's budget.  It is irresponsible, and, just like the federal stimulus bill of 2009, it sends money to government projects.

Please contact your state legislators and Gov. Riley and ask them to vote against this bill!  The name is SB121.  Contact your legislators here.  Contact Gov. Riley here.  Please flood the phones.  Thank you!!

Quick Wonderful Updates:  The State Sovereignty Resolution passed the State House yesterday (it had already passed the Senate!)  And Scott Brown won the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts last night!  This is a great win.  Scott Brown has pledged to vote against Obamacare, thus ending the Democrat Party's super majority in the Senate!

Folks, it is no question that we have momentum.  Please bring that momentum to local Alabama politics.  Please find good candidates to support and start helping them NOW, by donating/volunteering/spreading the word, etc.  Also, don't forget that a Democrat has not stepped up to run for U.S. Congress in AL-District 5.  This race will most likely be won in the primary (which will be June 1.)  It's just the beginning of 2010, but we have a LOT of work to do!  Thank you for all you do!!  :)

I have received news that Congressman Parker Griffith will be attending a Madison County Republican Executive Committee meeting this coming Monday, Jan. 18th.  The meetings are always open to the public; but you are not allowed to take the floor and speak unless you are called upon.  Just wanted to pass this information along in case you want to attend.  The meeting will be held at 7pm at the Heritage Bank on Balmoral Dr., in Huntsville.

UPDATE: The meeting will be held at 7pm at the RENASANT Bank (not Heritage) on Balmoral Dr., in Huntsville.  (I'm told it used to be Heritage Bank.)
