The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition has announced a new project, "Take The Town Halls To Washington", which is designed to bring tea party activists to Washington, DC during the month of March to meet, question and review the positions of approximately 60 Democrat members of the House of Representatives whose vote on the pending Health Care legislation has not yet been publicly announced. Tea Party Nation is a collaborating partner in the project.

Organizer, Michael Patrick Leahy further stated, "After more than a year of tea party resistance to the big government efforts of the Obama Administration, it all comes down to the next 3 weeks. The Administration has made it clear. They intend to ram down the Health Care takeover through a corrupt Congress by the end of this month, in direct defiance of the clearly expressed will of the American people.”

“It is time for every tea party activist across the country to consider dropping everything he or she is doing and join us in the most important battle of our life time. We need your energy, commitment, and efforts to make this succeed. We need you to consider coming to Washington during this 3 week period, and if you can’t come to Washington, be part of this project in your local area.”

Meetings in DC are scheduled to begin March 10th through March 31, 2010. Logistics are being coordinated for those coming to Washington and daily briefings and reviews are scheduled during the project. It is expected that visits will take place while Congress is in session from Monday through Friday.

We really appreciate all those who came out to protest John Boehner's support of Parker Griffith on Monday March the 1st. We had 250 people there from all parts of the political spectrum. We had a lot of fun and we changed the press coverage for Griffith from "House Minority Leader Boehner supports Griffith" to "Bipartisan protest of ..."  We WERE effective. Add a comment

I just wanted to update you on our February 27th event, marking one year since the first "Nationwide Tea Party" (the Nationwide Chicago Tea Party) was held.  It'll be at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles facility, located at 2500 10th St. SW, Huntsville, 35805 (just off of Bob Wallace).  It'll take place from 11am to 3pm, and please eat before you come!  This is a good opportunity to invite friends who are curious about the Tea Parties, as we will be showing "Tea Party: The Documentary Film."  After that we'll have a short activist training session, where we'll pass on what organizers of the Huntsville Tea Party have learned through Tea Party seminars we attended recently.  The goal is to empower you because we must all be leaders, in this movement.  If you and your friends plan to attend, please respond to this email to give us an idea of how many to expect.  Look forward to seeing you there!  It will be a lot of fun.

Also, I've been informed of a rally that is being put on by the Alabama Federation of Republican Women.  Huntsville Tea Party is not affiliated with a political party in any way, yet we commend any group's actions that embrace and our core Tea Party principles (limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual liberties, and free market economics) and goals.  I'm told the goal is to talk about what's going wrong in America and what can be done to take America back.  Specific legislation will be supported, such as an E-Verify bill that is in the Alabama Legislature right now.  The rally will be on Feb. 25 from 9am to 10am, and will be on the State House steps in Montgomery.  For more information, contact Glenda Neill at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Please remember to check our website's calendar!  There are MANY events coming up that you don't want to miss!!   This includes a Candidate Get Together in February, a Governors Forum in March, a Constitution Seminar in March, Tea Party Express in April, and Huntsville's Tax Day Tea Party in April.

Two events we'll be adding to the calendar in the next few days include an American Majority Activist Training Seminar in late March, sponsored by Smart Girl Politics, and another activist training seminar put on by Eric Odom's Patriot Caucus in late April.

Thanks for all you do!  And remember to volunteer in the primaries NOW.  There are many ways you can volunteer in primaries, such as through donations, volunteering for a campaign, hosting candidate "meet and greets," getting the facts to peers, etc.  Primaries are where we will pick our best candidates to move forward, and we're going to make a difference in 2010! There are several good events coming up in the next few months, that I'm going to list below.  Aside from these events, we plan to start holding monthly meetings where we can brainstorm and go over legislative updates and political news.  We'll inform you of the details soon, after logistics are finalized.  Also, please remember that in order to affect the change we want to see in our country, we must elect the best candidates into office.  Right now, our focus should not be on 2012 or even the elections in November of 2010.  Our focus needs to be on the primaries -- which are in June and are coming quickly.  We have received congressional candidate questionnaire answers from Les Phillip, Mo Brooks, and Parker Griffith.  We will be posting those to our website this week, and will alert you when we do.  We also have sent out a gubernatorial questionnaire and will alert you when those answers have been received and posted.
