Tea Party rallies are a great place for fiscal conservatives concerned about the direction of our country to get together, meet people we've been in contact with, form alliances, and cheer for our side. But as I've said before, that is not enough. We can't just go to rallies and expect things to change just because we raised our voices for a couple of hours. If we really want lasting change we are going to have to sacrifice our time, a part of our lives, and commit to action. The very least we can do outside of the rallies is contribute money to the campaigns of fiscal conservatives. There are campaigns at the national and local level that need our support. It is possible that we can end the corruption in Montgomery with this election. It is possible that we can end the march toward the nanny state at the national level by taking Democrat control on one of both houses.
But to do those things we must get involved in campaigns that make a difference. There are campaigns very near where you live that need help. They need people who will make phone calls, hand out campaign literature at sporting events, and walk door-to-door to get the word out about good people who have stepped up to the plate and will change our government. Find them, get in contact with them, and volunteer.
Here is a challenge for all of you. Come to the October 26th Rally ready to brag about what you have done to help make a change. Be ready to tell anyone who asks what you've done to support the movement toward fiscal sanity. Be ready to brag.
