Tea Party Event

This is a 4 day event with symposiums and an expo on Thursday & Friday.  A 9-11 memorial will be held Saturday AM. Then the march will begin and end with a rally at the Washington monument.  The events are being organized by Unite in Action. Check out the website for all the details at http://www.marchondc.org/ .

Freedomworks will also have a march scheduled for Sunday afternoon (9-12)
Buses to DC: It is time to register for a bus to Washington DC for the marches. Buses are being coordinated for Alabama by the Alabama Liberty Convoy. They have 8 buses reserved, which they expect to fill up quickly. Sign up here: http://libertyconvoy.org
Option One: Buses will leave Alabama on Thursday evening, arriving in DC on Friday. They will leave DC Sunday morning, arriving in Alabama Sunday night. This allows for participation in the Liberty XPO & Symposium, and sign making party on Friday, and Unite in Action's events on Saturday. This has been the main option because most people have to work on Monday. The cost per person is $381.75. That includes the bus and hotel together. Of course, the more people that are in the room, the less is costs per person.

Option Two: Buses will leave Alabama on Thursday evening, arriving in DC on Friday. They will leave DC Sunday evening, arriving in Alabama Monday. This allows for participation in the Liberty XPO & Symposium, and sign making party on Friday, Unite in Action's events on Saturday, and FreedomWork's events on Sunday. If someone needs to work on Monday, they should not go with this option. The cost is the same as option one.

We also have a link on our website: http://libertyconvoy.org/ for Wetumpka Tea Party's Red Eye that will leave Alabama Friday, arriving in DC Saturday morning, and will leave DC Saturday night, arriving in Alabama Sunday morning. There is no hotel room with this bus, and it only allows for participation in Unite in Action's events on Saturday. This is best for people who have limited time off work, or can't afford the other options. It is only $115.

Anyone who does not want to take the bus, but wants to stay in the same hotel with Alabama can also register from our website. We are staying at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. The hotel is $99 per night plus tax, and that rate is available from Sept. 7th - Sept. 15th.

I hope this clears up any confusion. Please let your groups know what is available. We extended the deadline to Aug. 20th...but cannot guarantee we will have availability that long.

Note: that website might be temporarily down, so just try back later. It is the right web address to sign up for a bus.
Volunteers Needed: The Liberty Convoy group needs volunteers for a variety of jobs including bus monitors, Early birds in DC to help direct people, and people to work their booth at the Liberty Expo in DC before the march. Bumper Stickers & T-Shirts PDF Print E-mail
Tea Party Event

During our April 15th rally we sold bumper stickers for the Huntsville Tea Party. We have now learned that they were made of significantly sub-standard material, which was not known to us when we bought them. For all of you who have seen them wrinkle and fade on your cars as I have, I apologize deeply.
However, we now have high quality vinyl bumper stickers for the Huntsville Tea Party to go along with our great new T-Shirts. If you would like to purchase a T-Shirt ($15) or get a long lasting vinyl bumper sticker (free if you bought one of the bad ones or just $1 otherwise), just come and meet me:
Saturday, June 26th in the parking lot of Wal-mart on Highway 72 (just west of Research Park) from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM
UPDATE: We will be selling shirts and bumper stickers again in the parking lot of Walmart on Highway 72 just East of 255 (Rideout Rd.) from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. I’ll be in a red Dodge pick-up at the end of the parking lot away from the store.

Tea Party Event

It is time to start thinking about the 9-12 March on DC this year. This year the march is not being put on by Freedom Works and is instead being put on by a coalition of Tea Party groups, so the whole thing is truly grassroots. However, that means that they don’t have deep pockets to pay for stage rental, restroom rental, and other event expenses. They are having a 72 hour Money Bomb that ends on April 26th. Please consider donating to help them pull this event off and then begin budgeting for your trip to DC. http://marchondc.org/ Add a comment

Tax Day Tea Party thoughts PDF Print E-mail
Tea Party Event

What an outstanding turnout everyone! Thank you for coming to our April 15th Tax Day Tea Party.
Anyone who took any video of the event, please post it to YouTube and then email me a link. I would love to see it and share it with everyone.
Here are some thoughts I've had since the event.
1) Our official count of the raffle cards combined with the percentage of people who wouldn’t fill them out means that we had approx. 2,000 people there.
2) Our turnout was noticeably bigger than last year, which means we are growing and reaching more people.
3) WHNT had the best TV news coverage of our event, except that they said we had “almost a thousand people”. The other TV stations all said “hundreds of people” and had very short mentions of our event.
4) Patricia McCarter wrote a good story about this event on the front page of the Huntsville Times. It was accurate and fair. You can also read her article here: http://blog.al.com/breaking/2010/04/tax_day_tea_party_draws_an_est.html
5) Huntsville Times has a series of great pictures of our event here: http://photos.al.com/4462/gallery/tax_day_tea_party/index.html
6) Dale Jackson’s advertising and talk show coverage of our Tea Party (92.5 FM – 770 AM 6:00 – 9:00 AM) was very helpful as well as his work as emcee to keep the crowd going. On his behalf, please spread the word about his talk show (time and channel) to anyone you know, who doesn’t listen already. He really does do the best local coverage of all things and people political. Thank you again Dale!
7) We had just one heckler, being noisy and making it hard for people around him to hear. He would stop every time people pulled out their video cameras. Someone near him finally came and got me to talk to him. After I told him to quit, he was good the rest of the event. No other problems were reported to me.
8) We raised a good amount of money. Not enough to last the year, but a healthy percentage of what we will need.
9) You can find more info about Docs 4 Patient Care here: http://docs4patientcare.org/
Since this was my first event as the leader of this movement as well as the first speech I have given at a Tea Party event, it was both amazing and humbling to me to have so many people come out and to have the event go so smoothly. Again, I say thanks to all of you!
Many of you asked for a copy of my speech. If you can’t see the attachment to this message you can get a copy here: http://huntsvilleteaparty.com/cms/images/stories/chad_capps_speech_2010.pdf
READING: I have never suggested articles to read before, but I believe that these are key articles to read:
