Raise taxes?

Do you think it is possible for the federal government to balance the budget without raising taxes?

No country and no society can survive immigration that happens fast enough that the immigrants do not have to join the “melting pot” of the existing society. You will end up with a fractured society. There are a lot of stories lately about the immigration bill that just passed in Arizona (SB 1070). Here are some brief facts for you.

1)      The AZ law does NOT allow racial profiling. In fact it prohibits it.
2)      The AZ law only requires the police to check on the immigration/citizenship status of a person a) after they have been stopped for another reason (speeding, crime, etc) AND if the officer has reasonable suspicion that the person is not in the country legally
3)      A driver license is considered sufficient evidence that a person is here legally.
4)      The AZ law is essentially a mirror of existing federal laws.
5)      Legal immigrants are already required by federal law to carry proof of their legal immigrant status that is their “green card”.
6)      The AZ law only makes being an illegal immigrant, illegal under state law as it already is under federal law.
The Governor of AZ has signed a follow-on bill to the recent illegal immigration bill that fixes some of the concerns people had. Read about the changes here: http://www.abc15.com/content/news/phoenixmetro/central/story/Arizona-lawmakers-OK-several-changes-to/qNpxW7Jonkm9shejhnkiSQ.cspx
Several people, including my AL House rep, Phil Williams, have suggested writing Arizona Governor Jan Brewer a thank you letter. You can find her contact info here: http://www.governor.state.az.us/contact.aspFYI :
FYI: AL State Senator, Paul Sanford has stated that he plans to introduce legislation similar to this AZ law in Alabama during the next legislative session. Let him hear your support!
